Guatemala Trip

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.

Several years ago, our church forged a bond with the small Central American nation of Guatemala.  Two of our dear friends and brother and sister in Christ answered God’s call to serve as full time missionaries in Guatemala. Larry and Sarah Plyler have been serving as IMB Missionaries ever since.

We sorely miss them, but we understand the call.  Every Christian has a calling.  Not every Christian goes to Guatemala, Kenya, or China, but every Christian goes to the grocery store, to work, or to school.  The stock boy at the local market needs Jesus just as much as the street vendor in rural Guatemala.  We at Beech Street have a heart for people… ALL people.  We love the people of Gurdon, across the state of Arkansas and the United States, and we love the people of Guatemala.

An out flowing of that love has led us to once again plan a week long mission trip to Guatemala, under the stateside leadership of Larry and Sarah’s son, our very own Youth Minister – Mitch Plyler.  Once in Guatemala, we will work alongside Larry and Sarah in prayer walking, games and activities with the children, door to door witnessing to hurting families and leading worship services each night.

Last years trip was a resounding success.  It has been said by many that our mission team’s lives were changed almost as much as the many people who came to know Christ during the last trip.  This year’s team is the largest ever.  We're planning on taking 30 missionaries from Beech Street to minister alongside Larry and Sarah.

Those of us on the 2010 Guatemalan Mission team would like to ask you to pray WITH us for the people of Guatemala, for Larry and Sarah, and for US – that we might be the hands and feet of Christ, going forward to help wherever and however we can.
